Dearest friends of Bridges to Prosperity,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, the UK Trust, and our staff, I am thrilled to announce the appointment of Ms. Nivi Sharma as CEO of Bridges to Prosperity, effective February 1, 2022.
Nivi brings with her an energy, drive, and expertise honed over a successful, global career based out of Nairobi, Kenya. She has dedicated her career to access; for children, youth, and adults. She co-founded eLimu, the first company to digitize the Kenyan Primary School curriculum for revision and literacy, and, most recently, served as the Chief Operating Officer of BRCK, the onramp for frontier market internet users.
The search for our new leader was thorough, rigorous and thoughtful, and led by our Board-appointed transition committee that included members of the Board, UK Trust, Pillars, and staff. To each of our committee members I extend my sincere thanks as your tireless efforts have resulted in an exceptional leader who is well positioned to ensure that Bridges to Prosperity meets the ambitious goals and objectives outlined in our 2025 Strategic Plan.
Speaking of our Strategic Plan, Nivi joins B2P at an exciting time for the organization. Our Rwanda bridge build program is expanding at an unprecedented rate as evidence of impact and available resources converge to drive government commitment. Nation-wide coalition building efforts in Uganda continue to accelerate as our expanded in-country leadership teams advocate for, and recruit influential stakeholders around, a vision of networked rural transportation infrastructure including improved feeder roads, pedestrian pathways, and trailbridges.
B2P’s Measurement and Evaluation team has launched new needs assessment and impact evaluation projects in both Côte d’Ivoire and Ethiopia, while keeping pace with the Rwanda team and the related Randomized Control Study underway. And, our profile as a global leader in the fight against rural isolation continues to increase, bolstered by continued progress in the stand-up of the global ROUTE coalition as well as the recent selection of B2P to lead a multi-organization collaboration in yet another East Africa nation (details to be announced shortly).
I hope that each of you has an opportunity to spend time getting to know Nivi as I have. Every time I talk to her, I am more impressed with her good instincts and focus. Until then, please know how thankful I am for your continued support of our mission. I look forward to continuing to build bridges to better lives together.
Respectfully,
Jan Tuchman
Chair, Bridges to Prosperity Board of Directors
