EL RODEO
The crossing at El Rodeo, over a tributary of the Rio Pire serves at least five communities deep in the Mesa El Pilon mountains, a remote tobacco-growing region of the municipality of Condega. The stream swells tremendously during the rainy season, becoming a strong fast river, and the residents of the surrounding communities were forced to hike a several-hours-long detour to reach the main road to downtown Condega. A suspension bridge at this crossing allows the residents to cross the quebrada without fear of being swept away and drowning.
