KAMUNJOMA
This community is entirely reliant on subsistence farming. The community is split in two by the Nyamusesa River. There is a health post, which more than half the community could not reach during the rainy season. The river, on the border with Mozambique is incredibly remote and as such, had been forgotten by many international organizations and development agencies. The Lutwazi Middle School of Chombe Village on one side of the river is the largest school in the area and is only accessible year-round to a small fraction of its students. During the rainy season, the distance from the main village to school increased from 3 km to 20 km without another available crossing, stranding an estimated 7,000 people.
