ethiopian girlThe African nation of Ethiopia is where Bridges to Prosperity started in 2001. In Ethiopia there is a need for some 15,000 footbridges to help empower the people who live there. The program focuses on training Ethiopians on bridge construction sites. A budding bridge industry has been built here. The program plans to privatize in the year 2010. In Ethiopia the Helvetas bridge coordinator is Mebratu Abebaw.
